5LINX distributes essential services globally

The Rochester Top 100, which annually recognizes the fastest growing privately held companies in the nine-county region, is sponsored by the Rochester Business Alliance and KPMG. Here is an interview with Craig Jerabeck, CEO of 5LINX Enterprises Inc.

5LINX distributes essential services just as telecom and energy. It is a licensed telecommunications carrier through its GLOBALINX subsidiary. The company owns and operates its own telecom infrastructure and provides telephony services to hundreds of thousands of end users, both residential and business.

Distributor of wireless

Our company started out as a distributor of wireless, long distance and local telephone. As the market changed, innovation advanced and our sales force matured, we elected to become a provider of services. We but offer a complete set of telecom services and have been exactly targeting the business community.

It is a challenge, particularly when you are growing as fast as 5LINX. We use a number of tools to maintain focus: A rigorous strategic planning process. Strong internal communications by our HR team to make sure we do not lose our sense of family. A corporate bonus that pays everyone on the team based on company performance, so we are all focused on the same performance metrics.

We have successfully launched our GLOBALINX VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) product in Africa and we offer some unequalled products just as dual mode Wi-Fi/3G handsets. We as well opened an office in Quebec in 2010, which is off to a successful start. We have made a decision to keep our focus limited to North America and Nigeria at this stage.

Way to honor our staff

5LINX day is a way to honor our staff. Our team has done a wonderful job helping us build this company. We have created over 200 jobs in Monroe County and we want to celebrate 10 successful years of doing business here.

That is an interesting challenge, however I believe we have been quite successful using many tools. Social media has been a boon to our business. By utilizing Facebook and Twitter, combined with e-mail and, we can communicate a consistent message to all of our representatives then and there. We as well have weekly webinars, video broadcasts and conference calls where we have upwards of 2,000 people on a call. We have corporate supported trainings in various cities three times per year, plus our National Training events where we train and recognize our teams, thousands of our representatives join us three times per year, in places just as New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale, San Antonio and more.
