Acme Packet is market-share leader
According to Infonetics Technology, Acme Packet had a 32 percent market share by revenue in 2010, the company's press release noted.
Acme Packet focuses on session delivery networks. Or as Andy Ory, company cofounder and chief executive, once told the Globe: "We're really building a signaling system to the Internet. We're helping the Internet deliver voice and video."
Statement from Diane Myers
Today's press release from Acme Packet included a statement from Diane Myers, directing analyst of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and IMS for Infonetics Technology.
"Acme Packet's expertise in SIP trunking, broad network of partners, and early entry into the E-SBC market helped it near double its enterprise business in 2010," Myers said. "Acme Packet gained share and retained its lead position among more than 30 competitors."
Net income was $13.7 million, or $0.19 per share, compared to $8.3 million, or $0.13 per share, in the first quarter of 2010. Earnings jumped 45 percent to $74 million when compared with the first quarter of a year ago.
