Apple Heads Toward the Cloud

Data center guru Kevin Timmons is getting off of Microsoft's cloud. It appears that Apple may have lured away Timmons, the head of Microsoft's cloud-computing operations, presumably to be the architect of Apple's ambitious aspirations for the cloud.

Microsoft confirmed that Timmons has left the Redmond, Wash., software giant, however didn't say where he would work at once. Yet trade publications and Apple-related blogs report that Timmons is headed to Cupertino, Calif., where Apple's top data-center executive passed away unexpectedly last fall.

Research in Motion may in the near future prove its many doubters wrong. The company has the smarts and the products to battle Apple for years to come. Could the stock double?
