Apple In Pilfering Mood, Steals iCloud Name For iOS 5

Obviously not satisfied at stealing notifications from Android, BlackBerry Messenger from RIM, and WiFi Sync from an iOS developer for Apple's new iOS 5, it appears that Apple is as well not against stealing a name, the name iCloud, however iCloud Communications isn't going to take it laying down.

According to the guys over at Slash Gear by way of MacRumors, The Straightway Web is reporting that iCloud Communications is taking legal action against Apple for alleged trademark infringement of the name iCloud and offering a similar service.

The Arizona based firm offers VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), PBX, SIP and conferencing services and the suit states the following" The goods and services with which Apple intends to use the "iCloud" mark are identical to or closely related to the goods and services that have been offered by iCloud Communications in accordance with the iCloud Marks since its formation in 2005. Nevertheless, due to the worldwide media coverage given to and generated by Apple's announcement of its "iCloud" services and the ensuing saturation advertising campaign pursued by Apple, the media and the general public have quickly come to associate the mark "iCloud" with Apple, to put it more exactly than iCloud Communications."

Sop really iCloud Communications wants an injunction granted that will halt Apple from using the iCloud moniker along with the destruction of all promotional materials and recompense for damage and loss of profits.
