Among the items up for auction or available through the raffle are donations from more than 100 area businesses and artists, including lodging stays, fishing trips, airplane rides, island tours, restaurant visits, gift baskets, artwork and jewelry.
When emergency officials want to notify residents about a situation, such as a hurricane, the CodeRED communications system allows officials to contact thousands of phone numbers at the same time with a recorded message.
David Donnelly, the county's emergency management director, encourages all residents and businesses to go to the county's CodeRED web page to enter their contact information.
Donnelly said it is especially important for those who use cell phones and other non-traditional phone systems like VoIP as their primary phone number to register.
Those who go to the website will be asked to provide their street address and a primary phone number. They will also be given the option to provide additional phone numbers, e-mail addresses and text addresses.
