AudioCodes Launches SmartTAP Call Recording Solution

AudioCodes, a provider of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technologies, announced the expansion of Microsoft Unified Communication product portfolio with the addition of an IP based call recording solution.

The new SmartTAP for Microsoft Unified Communications enables the recording of key business interactions within the Microsoft UC environment, including Microsoft Lync and Office Communications Server R2.

"As more Enterprises adopt Microsoft Lync as their unified communications platform, the need to record critical voice conversations is increasing rapidly," said Nimrod Borovsky, vice president of Marketing at AudioCodes, in a statement. "We are pleased to now offer a call recording solution as part of our overall Microsoft Unified Communications strategy."

Intuitive Web-based interface

SmartTAP can be easily configured using an intuitive Web-based interface. This simplifies system deployment and reduces the need for support. SmartTAP is compatible with VoIP, Time Division Multiplexing, and hybrid telephony environments.

SmartTAP records calls without consuming valuable resources, just as conferencing services. For instance, prairieFyre Software, which provides contact center solutions for Microsoft Lync, says SmartTAP deploys a certified plug-in on the Lync server that decrypts SRTP signaling thereby preserving data integrity, conversation quality and ACD performance.

As voice conversations are recorded in Microsoft's native RTA codec, it requires no additional PBX (Private -Automatic- Branch Exchange) setup or configuration.

Single server

SmartTAP supports up to 300 concurrent calls on a single server and complements the existing line of AudioCodes products for the Microsoft Lync environment, company officials said.
