Australian Cloud Start-up Orion VM Develops the fastest Cloud Storage Platform in the World

After 1 year of solid development, the Sydney based start-up OrionVM has launched its Infrastructure as a Service platform into live production today. Founded in early 2010 by three young like minded individuals, they had a dream of being the fastest Cloud Computing platform in Australia. One year and many sleepless nights later, they have done just that.

In early 2010, OrionVM was born in a dorm room of UTS by three university students. Juggling study, nearly full time work and working on this project at night did not leave much time for sleep, nevertheless the founders of OrionVM were not deterred. Driven by the dream of being the one of Australia's highest performing Cloud Computing platforms, they took six thousand dollars and all the time left in the day and got to work.

One year, a bucket-load of determination and plenty of sleepless nights later, OrionVM has done just that. Having released its high performance Cloud Computing platform into production today, they have high hopes for the months ahead.

The numbers achieved

When asked about the numbers achieved, system's developer and co-founder Alex Sharp proudly stated "we took a design often used in Super Computers, and added all the features required to turn it into a high performance Cloud Computing platform. During performance is important, our team as well focuses very heavily on reliability. All data and systems are fully redundant, meaning that there are no single points of failures within our platform".

Pure Hacking, the Australian experts in helping organisations protect their information assets previously this week demonstrated to the cards and payments industry how to think like a hacker. The security specialist outlined the prevalence of security compromises for computer networks, hand held devices, WIFI locations and data held on social media sites. Pure Hacking's CTO, Ty Miller, confirmed in two simple steps how to use a hacked iPhone to bypass SMS 2-factor authentication to make online retail purchases with stolen information.
