Avnet places strong emphasis on services

"Services will be one of the major new focus areas, which is where itX already has a head-start," Tang said. "We want to build our service business all over Asia and globally. This particular merger will enable us to speed up the whole development."

Lot to learn from the itX business

Tang said it had a lot to learn from the itX business, and highlighted some of the complementary aspects between the two just as Avnet's global focus on the health market, which sits in so then with itX's purchase of specialist health supplier, Sydmed in May last year.

Avnet Innovation Solutions global president, Philip Gallagher, said Asia Pacific was important region, and it would continue to invest in the area.
