Avonline Announces the Appointment of Dave Keighley as Managing Director, New

(Vocus) August 6, 2010 -- Avonline plc today announced the appointment of David Keighley as Managing Director of its recently formed New Technologies Division from 1st September 2010. David will be joining the Senior Management team of Mark Wynn (Group Managing Director), Steve Knott (Executive Chairman), Helen Drew (Financial Director), Richard Hale (Director of Installations), Trevor Thomas (Director of Business Services) and David Rogers (Head of External Projects).

In previous roles, David was Managing Director of Operations for Virgin Media where he worked for over ten years and more recently Managing Director of MAP Group (UK). With thirty years of industry experience, Dave is a well respected Technical Services leader with a great depth of business experience. His appointment is a continuation of the expansion and strengthening of the Avonline Senior Management Team which started last year with the appointment of ex FTSE 100 CEO, Steve Knott, as Executive Chairman.

He continued, "We expect to see significant growth in Satellite Broadband as Ka Sat technology introduces fast, reliable broadband to rural locations currently caught on the wrong side of the Digital Divide".

The 3.6 Mbps Tooway service provides rural customers with fast internet access anywhere in the UK from around £1 per day. Avonline also supplies the unique "IRSnet" product through which they are able to work with Local Authorities and Social Housing Associations to service the 4 million socially excluded adults with access to broadband via their existing integrated TV reception systems.

In addition, leveraging Avonline's well respected fibre network build and installation skills, the company is also introducing highly specialised community broadband solutions for remote and rural communities through sub loop unbundling and bespoke fibre solutions. Supported through the Welsh Assembly's recently announced Broadband Support Scheme, a number of community projects in Wales are already under review.
