Bay College offers course in e-commerce

ESCANABA - Area residents may now expand their web server or e-commerce knowledge by signing up for a new course at Bay de Noc Community College. Bay will offer an advanced course in web server administration, Web Servers CN 262, during the upcoming winter semester. The course, offered through the Computer Network Systems and Security Department, will be held from 4-5:50 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in HATC Lab 402G.

The class will entail loading

The class will entail loading, configuring and securing Windows and Linux web server platforms. The labs will include managing Apache and Windows Internet Information Server web servers and learning about e-mail, DNS, FTP, collaboration software and cloud computing. File format and data integration and conversion will also be explored. Labs will be conducted on both servers using HTML, CSS, and PHP, as well as access data sources using middleware coding.

This course is offered as a capstone for Computer Networking students, but could be taken by anyone interested in advancing their web server support skills. Prerequisites are either Intro to Linux or Windows Networking I, but interested individuals with advanced desktop OS experience or some Linux or Windows server experience may be appropriate.
