Blabbelon Service Goes Mobile, Introduces Push-to-Talk iPhone App
Communicating via voice without using up call minutes on your iPhone is now just a push away. Blabbelon, provider of a web-based voice chat service, has today announced the availability of the Blabbelon iPhone app. With this app, iPhone users can quickly and easily create a voice chat room (known as a Blab), for friends and family to chat without running up a high phone bill.
Blabbelon, who recently announced the launch of the company's first iPhone game alongside its intentions to broaden development further in the gaming space, represents one of the first mobile uses of SILK, a super wideband and low footprint audio codec from Skype. In bringing the first SILK-enabled app to the iPhone app store, Blabbelon provides a voice chat option on the popular smartphone with unparalleled audio quality and super-low latency. The Blabbelon app works on both WiFi and 3G connections and connects users of both the iPhone app and the browser based Blabbelon service, allowing users to communicate between their mobile phone and their web-based friends via push-to-talk. For instance, gamers can now connect with their StarCraft 2 friends, when mobile and running late, to let them know the evening's 3v3 matches will have to wait a bit.
'We're very excited to take the Blabbelon service mobile with the release of our iPhone application,' said Ed Ikeguchi, co-founder and CEO of Blabbelon. 'I believe our already strong and growing community of users will find our app to be a convenient way to take the voice chat functionality they've come to love with them wherever they go. I also look forward to opening up a new audience of iPhone users to the wonders of free, high-quality voice chat at the touch of a button!'
Containing a contact list similar to many popular Instant Messaging platforms, Blabbelon lets users connect with friends, family, or coworkers with voice, utilizing a push-to-talk system instead of finger-intensive text chat. Compared to a phone call or Voice-Over-IP connection, push-to-talk voice chat is conducive to much larger group conversations - Blabbelon users can invite multiple contacts to join a single chat, making facilitating group communication easier than ever. As a low-footprint app that requires very little of the iPhone's bandwidth users can run Blabbelon on their iPhones all day, staying just a push away from the group without affecting the phone's performance.
Blabbelon develops Voice over IP (VoIP) services and games that are designed to enhance the user experience. The company's free, push-to-talk, private VoIP chat service helps people easily gather and communicate by leveraging Skype's SILK codec to deliver super wideband audio quality and requiring no software downloads. In addition to Blabbelon's first iPhone game, Juggle Monsters, the company currently has several game titles under development. Blabbelon is a privately-held company, headquartered in New York City.
