Bloosurf ISP Selects Alvarion(R) Solution

Alvarion Ltd., the world's leading provider of 4G networks in the Broadband Wireless Access market, today announced that it was selected by Bloosurf, a rural broadband service provider in Maryland, for its 4G wireless broadband network to serve three adjacent counties and university campuses. Bloosurf will be providing the last-mile network of broadband service using Alvarion's end-to-end 4Motion(R) network solution operating in the 2.5 GHz spectrum.

Bloosurf was awarded Federal Stimulus funds to bring broadband to Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset counties, as then as Smith Island. Alvarion's 4Motion solution will enable Bloosurf to offer reliable, ultra-fast service to educational, residential and commercial clients. 4Motion combines BreezeMAX(R) and other best-of-breed systems to provide a complete ecosystem at the network level, enabling operators to be most responsive to a diversity of subscriber needs.

Bloosurf will provide broadband services which will benefit around 126,000 people, 6,000 businesses and 351 community institutions. Paul Carliner, president of Bloosurf called the service an unprecedented offer that would be better than anything offered in Baltimore or Washington. In areas just as the regional university campuses that are more populated, Bloosurf will offer wireless broadband service through partnerships with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Salisbury University and Wor-Wic Community College. Bloosurf has partnered with the universities to provide thousands of students on three campuses with consistent, high-speed connectivity to the university networks and to the Internet.
