Bridging our techno-communication gap

Just last week, I was talking about Apple's announcement of its iCloud with David, a senior citizen friend, at a local pub.

Great thing

Technology can be a great thing, enhancing the quality of our daily lives. Where would we be without the telephone, radio, TV, washing machine, and computer?

Recent technological advances have enabled personal and business social networking sites like Facebook and Linkedin, and smart devices like iPhones, Android phones, iPads, which many people — especially those pursuant to this agreement age 30 — feel help them to stay more closely connected to friends, and media content from world events to music and videos. Truly the benefits are clear.

However, as my friend lamented, the costs associated with some of the more recent developments seem to be rising, as young people increasingly plug in to cyberspace and tune out other rich sources of learning, primarily those that have gone earlier them and have valuable lessons to share — wisdom which can come only from living life and is best transferred in person instead of a wireless network.

Great thing

Technology is a great thing; we all benefit from it every day. Unfortunately, recent developments appear to have widened the historical divide between generations, compromising the ability of our youth to learn from seniors.
