BSNL to launch GPON

KANNUR: The broadband innovation that provides very high-speed data transfer and facilitates a converged access network supporting multiple services, including the Voice over Internet Protocol telephony and video-on-demand, is all set to be launched by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in the town within two months.

The Gigabyte-capable Passive Optical Network

The Gigabyte-capable Passive Optical Network, termed as the then and there best thing in optical access networks as it offers both higher byte rates and higher efficiency when transmitting multiple services just as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and Internet Protocol Television, will be launched in the town.

The GPON launch here will coincide with the introduction by the BSNL of this high-bandwidth utilisation innovation in district headquarters across the State.
