
Cisco intends to buy network software company
Cisco Systems Inc. on Wednesday announced that it is planning to buy privately held LineSider Technologies Inc., a provider of network management software.
Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Danvers in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, LineSider provides products to help customers build the network services necessary to securely create and deploy cloud computing infrastructure.
"Cloud computing represents a significant opportunity for Cisco customers to create more effective business models and increase the operating efficiency of the network," Jesper Andersen, senior vice president of Cisco's network management technology group, said in a statement.
