Clinton County voters asked to approve millage requests May 3
The county-wide request is for a 911 operating surcharge. If approved, the surcharge would take effect July 1, 2011 and continue through June 2017. The proposal asks voter to approve a 25-cent increase in the monthly surcharge on landline, wireless and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephone service within the county. The revenue generated by the surcharge will be used exclusively for the funding of 911 emergency telephone call answering and dispatch services within Clinton County, including facilities, equipment and operations.
Greenbush Township is requesting one mill for five years for emergency services. The estimated revenue from the levy would be about $71,900 annually.
