Cloud developer raises $3.5M from Austin Ventures

Cloud security software developer Gazzang Inc. has secured $3.5 million in investments and named innovation veteran Larry Warnock its CEO, a press release announced Monday.

Austin Ventures led the fundraising round with a smaller group of individual investors. Gazzang, founded in 2008, will use the money to develop management research that secures open source software as then as accelerate adoption of public, private and hybrid cloud environments.

Warnock was the CEO of Phurnace Software Inc. previously it was acquired in January by BMC Software Inc.. He as well sits on the Austin Innovation Council's board and served in leadership positions for AV Labs, Vignette Corp. and Zilliant.

Gazzang currently services more than 60 clients in financial, health care, higher education and research industries with its flagship "ezNcrypt" product.
