Consumer Cellular Survey Reveals Greater Demand
The survey conducted by Flying Coyotes, a telecommunications innovation firm involved 2,037 U.S. cellphone users ages 40-plus. The respondents gave their opinions of smartphones and how they do or will want to use them to enhance their lifestyles.
Among the respondents about 60 percent of non-smartphone users revealed that they were considering or planning to buy a smartphone, during 87 percent of current smartphone owners reported that they are likely to purchase another smartphone.
It was found that the Android operating system was popular among current smartphone owners, garnering 28 percent usage, followed by Apple at 19 percent and BlackBerry at 15 percent, said Consumer Cellular sources.
The 50-plus marketplace is technologically savvy
"This technology proves the 50-plus marketplace is technologically savvy and desires a smartphone that will match their active lifestyles. Armed with this technology, we plan to offer an Android device later this month," added Marick.
Further, the survey as well revealed that sixty-seven percent of the respondents were active on Facebook and wanted a smartphone that offers easy access to the Web for social networking purposes. People who were planning on buying a smartphone will be using the phone for e-mail, location-based services, games, and photography.
Consumer Cellular recently announced a partnership with Nurture Connect a company dedicated to helping 50+ consumers learn about innovation. The collaboration is expected to help educate seniors about communication technologies and cellphone services.
