
Dell's Cloud Ambitions Asserted With Updates To Server Business
Computer maker Dell has boosted its server business line by announcing new updates to its product range, reinforcing its commitment to cloud computing.
Matthew Eastwood, group vice president of innovation firm IDC's Enterprise Platform Group, said in a statement to One Stop Click "Organisations have been steadily migrating business critical applications to x86 servers, and they are the IT backbone of many data centre operations today."
Dell is trying to transition from being a systems maker to an IT solutions provider now its server line remains a strong asset for the company, Forrest Norrod, vice president and general manager of Dell’s Server Platforms business, said in an interview with eWeek.
In its financial report released February 15th, Dell reported a 16 percent year-on-year rise in its server division. The company saw server revenue grow by over 14 per cent in every group; large enterprise, small and medium size business, and the public sector.
