EA buying Firemint
Develop reports that a buyout of Australian smartphone games specialist Firemint by EA will be completed "in a matter of weeks" and that the deal is "not material."
The acquisition of Firemint
EA claims that the acquisition of Firemint, who are behind such popular titles as Flight Control and the Real Racing series, will "fuel its leadership" in the mobile space. Firemint is known for building "high-end" mobile titles which are designed to provide console-like experiences on smartphones and tablets or rather than the more typical simplistic mobile games. Real Racing 2, for instance, to all appearances had a budget of so then over $2 million.
