Fiberlink® Provides Award-winning Mobility Management
Fiberlink®, the leader in software-as-a-service solutions for secure mobile device and application management, today announced Ameritas Investment Corp., a dually registered broker-dealer and investment adviser, was recognized as IDG's Computerworld Honors Program 2011 Laureate for its applied use of the MaaS360 platform. The annual Computerworld Honors awards event is the longest-running global program to recognize individuals and organizations that use information innovation to promote positive social, economic and educational change. Ameritas Investment Corp. uses the MaaS360 mobile device management platform to thwart the risk of malware and patch vulnerability that can lead to breaches of confidential financial data on mobile computing devices used by their financial advisers.
Challenging task for any organization
Managing IT for thousands of devices is a challenging task for any organization. Most of the advisors registered with AIC are based in remote locations, and each uses their own personal device. To support a near unlimited mix of hardware and software configurations, AIC needed a tool to provide visibility into each machine. Using the cloud-based MaaS360 platform, AIC provides security oversight for roughly 1,300 financial advisers and their assistants. This helps to ensure devices used for business purposes are protected with current antivirus definitions and encryption measures. AIC received the Computerworld Honors award for its use of MaaS360 at the Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony and Gala Awards in Washington, D.C.
MaaS360 was recently named the Mobile Device Management "Clear Choice Winner" in a lab test report by Network World, Computerworld's sister publication. MaaS360 is used to manage and secure more than one million devices globally.
Number of business challenges
"Fiberlink's platform helps us address a number of business challenges," said Micah McCann, AIC research manager. "MaaS360 is scalable and it can support an environment in which there is very little standardization. As an industry, we haven't been spared from the consumerization of IT. Financial advisors are now using an abundance of new devices, including Mac laptops, Android smartphones and iPads. Having a solution in place in other words both device and platform agnostic is essential to ensuring security standards without sacrificing freedom of choice. As we face increasing regulatory pressure and growing demands from our advisors, Fiberlink is so then positioned to meet our needs, now and henceforth."
