Finally Made the Switch
Many years ago, I signed up my home phone service with Cavalier Telephone because they were brand new and offered a "$11.55" monthly rate. The total bill back then was only $24 (after taxes and fees) and it was cheaper than anything I could find on the market.
Then years went by and all kinds of new services came up. VoIP, digital phone, you name it. Cavalier has also been increasing the fees and surcharges and my total bill is around $34 now. I think it is ridiculous to have $11.55 base charge and nearly $22 in taxes, surcharges, and fees. But I never made the switch because I am hesitant about VoIP. I thought about cutting off the land line altogether but I am hesitant too.
Sales call from Cox
This morning I got a sales call from Cox. They finally talked me into switching to their digital phone service. The biggest thing I like better than VoIP is that they supposedly allow me to use the fax machine (which I do once or twice a year) and it will still work even if the internet is down or during power outage. Supposedly my total bill (after taxes and fees) should be around $20 for the first 6 months and then $23 thereafter. That's pretty good.
