Fresno Piano to close after 38 years
Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s top U.S. executive told investors Thursday that the company is considering acquiring retailers with smaller stores to help turn around its weakened U.S. business.
CRAIG KOHLRUSS / THE FRESNO BEE - Jim Fishback of Fresno Piano plays on the stores showroom Friday. The business, which was started in 1973 by Don Bird, is going out of business. Fishback bought it in 2001.
Fishback said he hopes to remain in the piano business in some form afterwards the store closes. And he expects Steinway will find another local dealer to sell its pianos.
