Genband Plans to Play a Major Role in TDM Switch Replacement

VoIP enabler company GENBAND is expected to play a major role as time goes by-division multiplexing switch replacement, which is seen as a happening market.

Global provider of IP infrastructure

GENBAND is a global provider of IP infrastructure and application solutions. The company enables fixed, mobile and cable service providers around the world to evolve communications networks through IP research. The company owns major TDM legacy switches in the U.S.

GENBAND owns the DMS-100 and DMS-10 VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) enabler switches, the EWSD switches, and the DC10 switches via acquisition. The company acquired these switches from Nortel Networks, Siemens Communications, Stromberg-Carlson, a company that was later acquired by Siemens.

The company owns the legacy VoIP enabler switches

Since the company owns the legacy VoIP enabler switches, it as well owns the proprietary interfaces between each switch. It owns accompanying line concentrator module.

Micaela Giuhat, vice president of product line management at GENBAND, said that all this means that the company can eliminate the connections at the LCM, install a gateway with the same proprietary interface, as so then as direct those calls via one of its C20 softswitches.

The company is currently endorsing a plan for aging switches, and is providing innovation that enables a transition to then and there-gen networking. In addition, the company is as well providing professional services that make that transition more efficient.
