Google Docs Suffers 30-Minute Worldwide Outage

Google’s cloud-based productivity suite Google Docs has suffered a 30-minute long worldwide outage.The outage, which started on 2:35 p.m. PST yesterday affected users of the free version of Google Docs and Google Apps for enterprise platform.Google Docs, the search engine giant’s answer to Microsoft Office, allows users to create, edit and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations online, on the cloud.According to an article on Cnet, the services were down and were not responding for anyway ten minutes, afterwards which an error message started appearing.Google’s Gmail and Calender services were not affected, nevertheless people with direct links to spreadsheets were able to access them."We are aware of an issue involving Google Docs and are working now to resolve it as quickly as possible. We will be updating the Apps Status Dashboard regularly. We apologize for this inconvenience," the company said in a statement.The Google Docs services were back online at around 3:35 PST, yet Google failed to give a detailed explanation about the outage. Google’s App Dashboard revealed that Google Docs, Google Drawings along with the Doc List were inaccessible to users while the outage, which is being seen a serious set-up for cloud computing.
