
Google Nexus S to hit Carphone Warehouse on December 20
Google's latest smartphone, the Nexus S, will be exclusively available from the Carphone Warehouse on December 20, with contracts starting from a £35 per month.
The mobile phone retailer said the handset is available on monthly subscriptions from Orange, T-Mobile, O2 and Vodafone. Depending upon the network the subscriptions offer 600 and up minutes, along with unlimited text messages and partly unlimited internet.
While there is no cost for the handset on the £35 per month subscriptions from O2, Orange and Vodafone, those wanting to use the Nexus S on T-Mobile's network will find they need to fork out £49 for the smartphone on the cheapest tariff, nevertheless in return they go the biggest minute and text message bundles.
Alternatively, the smartphone is available on a pay as you go basis for £549.95, though £10 worth of top-up is included in the price.
The successor to its 'superphone'
The successor to its 'superphone', the Google Nexus One, benefits from Gingerbread, the latest edition of the search engine's mobile platform, Android. Version 2.3 of the OS offers a number of improvements including an improved copy and paste function, a new keyboard, a gyroscope sensor support which is useful for games and support for VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
