Grupo TVSA Argentina Selects ViaSat's Satellite Business VoIP System

ViaSat, a provider of satellite business VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) solutions, announced that Grupo TVSA of Argentina has selected Edge Access VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) softswitch communications system to offer triple play services.

Grupo TVSA, which provides CATV and broadband Internet, selected the business VoIP system to deliver end-to-end, enhanced satellite VoIP networking for broadband, enterprise managed services, wholesale services, peering, and hosted applications.

Vast territory

"Because our network infrastructure stretches across a vast territory, we need IP-based provisioning and billing in other words scalable and cost-effective," said Alfredo Argiz, general director, Grupo TVSA, in a statement.

ViaSat business VoIP was an ideal choice because the solution combines a leading softswitch with an integrated back office system, as so then as local support and expertise, Argiz added.

The business VoIP system

In addition to the business VoIP system, Grupo TVSA has integrated a back office application called SIMA from IPVision for administration, provisioning, and billing. IPVision is an Argentine company offering then generation solutions for voice/video over IP applications.

The project involves deploying phone services on more than 15,000 lines, including SS7 protocols for interconnecting with telephony incumbents in the region.

ViaSat delivers fast, secure communications, Internet, and remote network access to fixed sites or on-the-move. Recently, ViaSat announced that the construction of the ViaSat-1 high capacity satellite is complete and it is now ready for launch. When on orbit, ViaSat-1 is purported to be the highest capacity Ku-band satellite in the world with capacity estimated at 150 Gbps.
