During his keynote speech at Qualcomm's Uplinq conference in San Diego today, HTC CEO Peter Chou predicted that smartphones will outsell feature phones by the end of 2011. Sprint has just confirmed that its HTC EVO 4G smartphone users will begin receiving notifications for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system update starting on Monday, June 6. The notifications will roll out in waves, according to the company. In a blazing burst of insight, even though, Sprint will as well be making the update available immediately to those that just can't wait. The manual update option will become available starting on this Friday, June 3. It will be accessible from the phone's Settings, System Updates, HTC Software Update section.
