
IEEE 802.16m Gives WiMAX the Much Needed Boost
To test multiple coexistence scenarios between LTE and WiMAX radio technologies, Clearwire Corp., a leading provider of wireless broadband services and operator of the largest 4G network in the country, announced plans to conduct 4G LTE technology trials. The operator intends to achieve speeds ranging from 20 to 70 Mbps.
As reported in Computerworld, both WiMAX and LTE services are entering the market at a time when Cisco (News - Alert) projects that mobile Internet traffic will double every year between now and 2013. By 2013, Cisco foresees an Internet traffic of 2.2 million Terabytes per month. In addition, the company Cisco also predicts that this surge in traffic will be driven by video.
