Infonetics: Most WiMAX operators plan mobile offerings by 2012
A new survey from Infonetics Research indicates that the majority of WiMAX operators plan to offer mobile services by 2012 but might be stymied by the lack of smartphones.
The majority of WiMAX operators offer service for fixed or nomadic broadband services, but two-thirds of the 25 service providers Infonetics questioned said they planned to use WiMAX for mobile broadband in two years. In addition, 90 percent said they expect to offer VoIP using their WiMAX networks by 2012.
