Motorola Mobility is building a web-based mobile OS of its own as a "possible alternative" to the Android operating system powering its Xoom tablet according to InformationWeek, which says it's been hiring Apple and Adobe engineers to that end.
If true, one of the possible reasons is the restrictions Google puts on Android OEMs or like as not it's Android's apparent patent peril - there are currently, as of this week, 37 - count 'em 37 - Android-related patent suits somewhere in the legal system. Or perhaps it's simply to be different. If it's serious, Moto's going to have to bulk up on patent rights.
