IP Media Server Provider RadiSys Addresses Mobile Network Security Challenges

RadiSys, a provider of innovative hardware and software platforms for straightway generation IP-based wireless, wireline and video networks, participated in the LTE (Long Term Evolution, latest standard in the mobile network technology) Summit 2011 held April 15, 2011 in Mumbai, India.

This presentation focused on the implementation and network use cases for two key security areas of LTE standards, 3GPP NDS standards and the I-WLAN Tunnel Termination Gateway.

While LTE offers a number of network benefits, it as well introduces new security threats and challenges to network operators, according to RadiSys. According to the Infonetics’ report titled "Service Provider VoIP Equipment and Subscribers: Quarterly Worldwide and Regional Market Share, Size and Forecasts," RadiSys' family of media servers now retains about 65 percent of the total market for the 2010 calendar year, a gain of 11 percent from the previous year.

RadiSys products are used in a wide variety of applications including 3G/4G/LTE wireless voice, data and video, Femtocell, VoIP and Video over IP communications and conferencing, Voice Quality Enhancement, and secure defense communications.
