iPhone 4 poll: Did Apple do the right thing about antenna issue?

First, the just-released iOS 4.0.1 firmware update, which Apple claims will make the "signal bars" icon show a more accurate reading of signal strength. This actually will have no effect on either of the two underlying problems: the signal loss that results when any cell phone is gripped, or causing the exposed external antenna of the iPhone 4 to detune when it comes in direct contact with the hand.

Second, Apple will offer free rubberized bumpers or a case for every iPhone 4 bought through Sept. 30. If you've already bought one from Apple, you'll get a refund. Theres's growing evidence that the bumpers directly overcome the detuning.
