KT and Samsung to Collaborate on Marketing New Green IT System

KT Corporation and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced today that they will collaborate on marketing the benefits of an eco-friendly cloud computing system, dubbed the "Green IT System", which incorporates Samsung's advanced 30 nanometer class* DDR3 dynamic random access memory research.

The two companies are seeking to encourage the global IT industry to use more energy-efficient, cloud computing systems. Combining KT's new cloud computing system and Samsung's leading-edge 30nm class DDR3, the new green IT system is expected to offer substantial energy savings.

Cloud data center in Cheonan

KT built a cloud data center in Cheonan, Korea last year and is investing roughly 200 billion Korean Won to establish a comprehensive cloud computing system tied to the center. KT's cloud computing system is then-known for its high stability, security and convenience at a low price.

The new cloud computing system is expected to deliver in broad outline two to three times greater electrical energy efficiency than previous server systems and with Samsung's green DDR3, can save more than 70 percent of power compared to previous systems.
