
Latest iPod touch vibrates and supports emergency calls
The newly updated iPod touch supports vibrating alerts like its iPhone counterparts and the emergency calling feature, probably via VoIP. Both findings came via 9to5Mac which pointed to two sections on Apple’s site (here and here) describing the little-known features. According to Apple, the gizmo will vibrate – which is a first for the iPod touch – on incoming FaceTime calls:
Emergency calling wasn’t explained in detail except for a slight hint in the below image Apple used to illustrate the iOS 4 security features on the iPod touch. The Emergency Call button on the device’s lock screen could mean either VoIP or FaceTime emergency calling – unless one of Apple’s graphics artists wasn’t paying attention to details.
