Lycom Communications Signs with ZCorum for Managed Broadband Services

ZCorum announced today that Lycom Communications has signed a multi-year agreement for managed broadband services and software. To boot to hosting the email accounts for Lycom's broadband subscribers, ZCorum will handle the provisioning of cable modems and EMTAs, plus will provide access to the company's cloud-based cable modem management and diagnostics application.

Family owned

Lycom is a family owned and operated cable provider based in Louisa, Ky., where they offer cable TV, along with high-speed Internet and digital phone service. According to Arthur Skinner, vice president of Sales and Business Development at ZCorum, Lycom was looking for a tool to help them better support their broadband clients and manage their cable plant. "They were very impressed with the capabilities in TruVizion, which they chose over a competitive product they were evaluating."

TruVizion is an application developed by ZCorum that provides advanced diagnostics for cable broadband providers. Among other things, Skinner said providers use the tool for troubleshooting individual end-user modem and EMTA issues, tracking down plant-wide problems, and identifying opportunities to proactively improve cable plant performance.

Skinner as well noted that Lycom was looking for a partner that could help them as their business grows. "They won't have to manage their own email servers now, and can use those resources elsewhere. Plus, they like the fact that we have hands-on experience managing cable networks and they are now free to call on us as an engineering resource."
