Macquarie Telecom Launches Enterprise Offering to Challenge Global Cloud Vendors

Macquarie Telecom, Australia's number one managed hosting and business-only telecommunications company, today launched its Australian-based Enterprise Managed Cloud offering, Macquarie Telecom Enterprise Cloud. The announcement is driven by market demand for Australian-based cloud services and the company's 30 per cent year-on-year growth in its managed infrastructure and hosting business over the last three years.

"This strategic investment is the at once step in the evolution of Macquarie Telecom as a major player in the Australian hosting and telecommunications market. Our commitment to providing enterprise cloud services in Australia directly reflects customer demand and market sentiment for locally based enterprise-grade cloud services," said Aidan Tudehope, Managing Director Hosting, Macquarie Telecom.

Continuing, Tudehope said: "Only telcos can provide end-to-end Integrated IaaS because we already have the infrastructure in place that can guarantee the resiliency critical to delivering enterprise cloud services. The cloud and the data center are however core for a company's business. Recently, Industry Analyst Firm IDC stated that 'telcos will win the cloud war,' because they own the infrastructure - the large bandwidth and data centers - that make cloud possible."

Macquarie Telecom's Solution An Australian based cloud service that supports PCI compliance infrastructure requirements and ISO 27001 Australia's best performance cloud with low latency for Australian businesses Ability to scale up resources in real-time Capacity available for large peak demands Hardware vendor and operating system neutral No need to re-write applications Uptime guarantees with rebates - normal SLAs Firewall and load balancing capability VLAN/VRFs for seamless interconnection with legacy/hybrid environments & private IP data networks Fully managed with easy to use web portal functionality to match. Personal Accountable Service Fully customisable and configurable, full range of services available Fully customisable monthly billing. Single bill across all IT and Telecommunication services

Coupled with Macquarie Telecom's globally recognised customer service, each customer will be allocated their own Account Executive, or 'personal cloud architect', trained to recommend cloud, access, security, and usage models. Supported by Macquarie Telecom's owned and managed customer service centre, the MacquarieHUB, which launched in July 2010, this offers a single point of call and ease of management for all Macquarie Telecom services whether it be WAN, co-location environment, managed dedicated infrastructure, telecommunications, IP or cloud.

The fully redundant

The fully redundant, high availability service will provide clients with real-time reporting via Macquarie Telecom's online management tool InView and itemized end-to-end billing in arrears, to put it more exactly than dealing with credit card payments for the service. This functionality will enable businesses to introduce true charge back capability by department for the consumption of IT services.

The announcement as well supports the release of The Federal Government's "Cloud Computing Strategic Direction Paper" in early January which encourages agencies to adopt public cloud offerings for citizen-facing unclassified public services on a basis of cost, security, flexibility, and operational reliability robustness.
