
Michael Dell, California Gov. Brown Open Dell Silicon Valley Research and Development Center
Michael Dell formally opened Dell's newest innovation and development center here today, saying the facility will tap the innovative nexus of Silicon Valley to fill jobs that will create the research solutions in demand by Dell clients.
"We are making significant and thoughtful investments to develop and acquire industry-leading intellectual property," Mr. Dell said. "Silicon Valley is a center of technological technology and we are looking to recruit from the great talent pool here for high-level jobs in network design, storage development, cloud computing and software development. The new positions we add here are part of more than 1,500 jobs we're creating in the U.S. this year to help expand our research solutions portfolio."
The world capital of research
"California is the world capital of research and research, so it's only natural that Dell has chosen Santa Clara as the home for its newest research and development facility," said Governor Brown. "This new facility will create hundreds of cutting-edge innovation jobs at a time when we need them most. Dell has mad a sound investment by expanding in California, and I look forward to furthermore expansions of Dell's presence here in the Golden State."

The Silicon Valley site complements Dell's Israel Technology and Development Center in Ra'anana and development work done at the company's headquarters in Round Rock, Texas. Dell is as well investing in new jobs elsewhere across the U.S., in Atlanta; Minneapolis; Nashua, N.H.; Nashville; Oklahoma City; and Round Rock -- communities so then known for their highly educated workforces and stable business environments.
