NBN unveils wholesale services for business end users

Andis said: "TC1 TC2 and TC3 all have CIR elements, TC1 and TC2 are CIR only. TC3 introduces the ability to burst to a PIR. TC1 has been engineered on small frame sizes and low bit rates suitable for VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) applications and small transaction traffic like EFTPOS. TC2 is large frame sizes and higher bit rates, suitable for videoconferencing. TC3 is for premium data type services. TC4 is PIR only traffic class." TC1 will be available in bandwidths from 0.15 to 1Mbps, TC2 from 5-40Mbps, TC3 from 10-40Mbps.

The enterprise ethernet services will be radically different from other NBN offerings and will compete head on with the multitude of fibre-based services offered to large enterprises. These services will not use the passive optical network, however will be delivered over dedicated point-to-point fibre between NBN Co's fibre access nodes and customer premises and will terminate on a new business grade network terminating device. These services are not due to be available until 2014. Symmetrical bandwidths from 50 to 1000Mbps will be available.
