New iOS 4 features for iPhone, iPod Touch worth upgrading for today

The new iOS 4, a major software upgrade for iPhone and iPod Touch users, is set to be released today (sorry iPad owners, you'll have to wait for fall.)

Multitasking: While not as robust as most would like, third-party applications on the iPhone can now offer location data, VoIP and audio. So now you can finally listen to Pandora while doing other things with your iPhone.

The iPhone 3GS

• The iPhone 3GS and third-generation iPod Touch (32GB and 64GB models) will get all the new features (except for upgrades such as FaceTime video chat, which is only for the upcoming iPhone 4.) • The iPhone 3G and second-generation iPod Touch users don't get multitasking, wallpaper and Bluetooth keyboard support. • The iOS4 upgrade is not available for the original iPhone and iPod Touch.
