Elk Grove residents and business owners can register their cellphone and voice-over-Internet-protocol numbers to receive community emergency alerts through the Sacramento Regional Reverse 911 system.

The Reverse 911 system is designed to inform residents and businesses of significant incidents occurring in a geographic area within the city of Elk Grove. Earlier, the system contacted only residential and business landline numbers.
People with mobile phones or VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) systems may register their phone to a physical address and receive alerts when that address is included in an emergency notification.
