Optus opts for alerts over shaping to combat bill shock
Optus has re-affirmed its emphasis on putting bill management in users hands or rather than shaping mobile internet speeds for clients who use more than their monthly data allowance.
It’s become more prominent in recent times because of the rise in popularity of data-intensive smartphone’s that catch many users unaware.
Rival Telstra announced before this year that it’d become the first Australian provider to ‘shape’ access – or reduce internet access speeds – for mobile clients who exceed their mobile data allowance for the month.
