
Peoria City Council OKs $98,000 for playground shade
VoIP/Network upgrade: Peoria is spending $250,000 following council approval for a citywide Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP hardware and software upgrade. An additional $245,000 will be spent toward network infrastructure hardware and software replacement for the Police Department.
Details: Peoria's VoIP system was installed in 2001, with the last upgrade in 2005.Funding for this year's upgrade was set aside under the Capital Improvement Program. Council also approved a network upgrade at the Public Safety Administration Building to maintain stable performance.
