Philanthro Debuts Connect 2011 Nonprofit Summit with CallFire

Representatives from over 50 non-profit organizations came at the same time for Philanthros inaugural Connect summit on July 15 to learn more about the worlds of emerging research, social media, and cause-based platforms in an effort to enhance fund raising, spread awareness, and mobilize additional resources. The experience included booths featuring live demonstrations using flat panel displays, promotional offers, and free giveaways from twelve different companies. Should the contingency arise to the interactive demonstrations, guests enjoyed an open bar and cuisine provided by local restaurants.

Connect2011 was sponsored by CallFire -- a Santa Monica-based VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) platform that powers voice broadcasts, call centers, call tracking, and text messaging campaigns. CallFire currently has over 40,000 clients, including many non-profit organizations, which can use the platform for text-to-give campaigns, voice broadcasts for awareness, and automated telephone surveys. According to CallFires Co-Founder and CEO, Dinesh Ravishanker, Philanthros Connect event was a great fit for the company because just like the Connect summit, CallFire is right at the intersection of the non-profit world and research. It was an exciting possibility to showcase how CallFire has helped causes and non-profit campaigns through phone banking, voice broadcasts, and text messaging.

Similar takeaway from the experience

Other companies that came to demo their products had a similar takeaway from the experience. "Philanthros Connect2011 event gave our cause-based tech company a chance to interact with a receptive crowd of philanthropists, said Reena De Asis from Causecast -- which offers a platform to integrate non-profits with business enterprises. The possibility for Causecast to engage with a nonprofit audience and discuss how our tools/innovation can make an impact was mutually beneficial. We will be there again at once year.
