Radiant Logic Announces Cloud Federation Service and VDS + at Gartner Catalyst Conference
"It's a struggle to provide single sign-on when your identities are scattered across multiple Active Directory domains and forests, databases, and applications," says Dieter Schuller, VP of Business Development at Radiant Logic. "Nevertheless CFS, at the same time with VDS+, brings a complete identity service based on virtualization to an entire enterprise infrastructure. This common identity layer can at the time be tied securely to applications, no matter where they are-including the cloud."
Gregg Kreizman and Ant Allan, Technology Director and Vice President, Gartner, Inc. stated in their report "Key Issues for Identity and Access Management, 2011" published on February 23rd 2011 that "mobility and cloud computing are stretching and breaking traditional IAM processes and infrastructure," Kreizman explains. "The same IAM functions are needed for the cloud; but, they are just not willingly available as mature, abstracted or brokered services. Or rather, each IAM function is delivered independently by the cloud application provider."
Identity Provider
RadiantOne Cloud Federation Service includes an Identity Provider and Security Token Service, which authenticates users from across the enterprise, at that time generates vendor-specific security tokens to deliver to applications. CFS supports Integrated Windows Authentication for identities belonging to different AD domains and forests, extending SSO to users residing in different AD forests. In conjunction with VDS+, CFS federates identity across the enterprise's heterogeneous mix of identity stores, including LDAP directories, databases, and applications/web services. CFS integrates with federation standards and cloud applications, including SharePoint 2010, Salesforce, Google Apps, and WebEx. It can as well federate with other Identity Providers, just as Windows Azure ACS and ADFS, as so then as WAM/federation solutions, just as SiteMinder, Ping Federate, OpenAM, and Shibboleth.
Radiant Logic's new Virtual Directory Server Plus virtualizes and aggregates directories at the push of a button, using wizard-driven configuration. VDS+ puts cutting-edge virtual directory research within the reach of mid- to large-size companies, by offering a low-cost solution for enterprises looking to manage their internal identities. The configuration wizard simplifies set-up, cutting down on deployment time and confusion, and it ships already integrated with CFS to securely link internal directories with cloud-based applications. A new persistent cache feature supports faster queries, data freshness, and scalability. Should the contingency arise, advanced support for dynamic groups has been added to this release.
