REDCOM Successfully Completes SIP Interoperability Testing with Harris Falcon III AN/PRC

REDCOM Laboratories Inc., a company that designs and manufactures the world's most reliable digital and IP-enabled telecommunications systems, announced today that it has successfully completed Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) interoperability testing for REDCOM's SLICE® and SLICE® 2100™ switches with AN/PRC-117G Radios from Harris RF Communications, the leading global supplier of secure radio communications and embedded high-grade encryption solutions for military, government and commercial organizations.

Wide selection of new applications

This proven interoperability provides warfighters a wide selection of new applications. Warfighters working at a Forward Operations Base (FOB) can now be supported with a wide range of communications services while in a very difficult environment. This application can provide the primary or the secondary communications link into and out of a FOB. Single Stage Dialing gives the warfighters using an Edge (SME-PED) or a Secure GSM Handset at a forward location easy access to persons or groups located within a Secure VoIP Network for direct support of their mission. A Combat Commander can now use one secure device, with MLPP, to contact and speak with anyone needed to support the combat mission.

Based on this verified SIP interoperability between the Harris AN/PRC-117G Radios and SIP-based REDCOM SLICE and SLICE 2100 systems, warfighters using a Handheld Radio, LMR or Tactical Radio can now easily connect with a TOC or COC type location to request support or deliver information. A secure base station could allow warfighters using LMR Handhelds which have dialing capability to route themselves through a Secure VoIP Network or securely to someone operating in an secure networks.

REDCOM enables secure and interoperable warfighter communications with TRANSip®, the breakthrough technology that delivers secure tactical and strategic VoIP for Joint, NATO, and Coalition Forces. Whether in a foxhole or at the Pentagon, REDCOM's TRANSip technology suite converges a broad range of technologies for maximum interoperability in both tactical and strategic networks, so warfighters can be confident that REDCOM systems will operate in a joint environment.
