Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Tab $399 on November 14th
Several sources are now reporting that Sprint is close to making an official announcement concerning the final price and availability of Samsung's highly anticipated Galaxy Tab, the tablet based on its popular Galaxy S smartphones. Sprint will reportedly release it November 14th at $399 with 2-year data contract and $599 'unlocked'.
The Galaxy Tab is also coming to T-Mobile
The Galaxy Tab is also coming to T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T and pricing on those carriers is not expected to be different than Sprint's rumors. If this pricing pans out, it will be markedly different approach than Samsung has taken in other parts of the world: U.K. and Germany have seen the device list for over $1000, which would kill any hope of broad market adoption here. That said, the European device does actually make telephone calls natively. U.S. users who want to use it as a giant phone will have to wait for the inevitable 'hacks' to enable Skype or other popular VoIP services.
