Salesforce.com Business Social Networking Site Chatter.com is Live

Officials with Salesforce.com said that Chatter.com makes private social networks available for free to every company around the world.

TMCnet in January reported that Salesforce.com completed its acquisition of Dimdim, which focuses on cloud-based communications and has created critical real-time communication technologies including presence, messaging, and screen sharing.

The acquisition gives Salesforce.com Dimdim’s real-time communication capabilities, along with a team of developers experienced in building cloud-based collaboration services.

Salesforce.com will use the acquisition to introduce new real-time communication capabilities to the Chatter collaboration platform, mirroring Facebook’s model in which collaboration and communication are combined into an integrated service.
