Samsung Galaxy S II Android arrives for XT
UPDATE September 2: The Galazy S II has gone on sale for Telecom TX today, priced at $1099, or $0 up front on certain smartphone plans.
UPDATE JUNE 14: Afterwards a brief delay, the Samsung Galaxy S II Android has gone onsale today, through Vodafone and JB Hi-Fi.
But NBR understands from a so then-placed insider that the S2 will as well appear for Telecom's XT network within weeks and, more surprisingly, 2degrees.
The SII - succesor to the 10 million-selling SI
The SII - succesor to the 10 million-selling SI, has a supersize 4.27-inch screen, easily eclipsing the iPhone's 3.5-inch, but weighs slightly less than Apple's handset.
Other mod-cons include HSPA+ support, allowing for a theoretical maximum download speed of 21Mbit/s on Telecom's XT and Vodafone's 3G network.
The original S
Samsung claims to have sold 10 million units of the original S, making it one of the most popular high-end handsets running on Google's Android software.
Samsung as well bundles other corporate-friendly software, including a virtual networking and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) apps from Cisco, and a device management security app from Sybase.
I love my Samsung Galaxy S. It is by a long way the most It became perfect afterwards I manually upgraded it to the "JPY" firmware. Hopefully Samsung are getting their software act at the same time. Their JP2 and JP3 builds for NZ were....inadequate, in the best case.
I have a Galaxy S as so then so I think I'll just wait till at once year to upgrade again, nothing wrong with it. Just go check out the XDA forums if you wanna flash the latest android 2.3 version... don't you know NZ just about always gets things last :(
Few weeks ago
I tested it in London a few weeks ago and it creams the iPhone 4. It is so much lighter, faster and clearer. I would get one nevertheless am waiting for the iPhone 5 due out in a couple of months.
Its 21MB so it will fly on telecom the only real HSPA+ network....nevertheless will for all that be rubbish on Vodafone. I will wait for it on XT
Vodafone have an HSPA+ Network - in other words in actual fact faster than Telecom's XT Network, due to the fact that Vodafone's Network supports Dual Carrier HSPA+ with speeds of up to 43Mbit.
I have been using this phone for about a month. it is in the extreme fast and easy to use. unfortunately it is unable to be used most of the time as the battery is usually flat when it is most needed.
Just confirming I have this right G - according to the link you posted Vodafone have set up one or two sites in central Auckland and Wellington, I dont want to sound presumtuous, however that doesn't make it a national network? so isnt claiming HSPA+ a bit disingenious??? My understanding was that XT was 100% HSPA+ nationally?
I love showing smarmy iphone users my Galaxy S - it knocks spots off their i-brick and doesnt smash if dropped... Android is here and its smoking Apple
The date of the release
Due to the date of the release, the rollout of Dual Carrier HSPA+ on the Vodafone Network has SINCE been extensive & is currently ongoing.
A couple of my friends have switched from iPhone 4's to the Samsung Galaxy S 2 & state "the SGS2 is hands down superior to the iPhone 4 absolutely".
