Skype 2.1 Opens Up Video Calling for More Mobile Phones
Last month, Skype rolled out video calling for Android phones running Android 2.2 or above. Many Android handsets were not compatible with that release. As promised, they are compatible with the Skype 2.1 update, available now from the Android Market.
According to Skype, even if your device isn’t listed, you should nevertheless be able to go into Skype’s settings and select ‘enable video calling’ manually. This is provided that you are running for the time being Froyo and have a handset that meets minimum requirements for video calling, so if you can’t manually change the settings, you’re out of luck. For everyone with a fairly up-to-date Android phone, although, this release means, officially, you can after all go nuts on your Skype video calling.
